Comments Thread For: Cristian Mijares: I Want Jorge Arce, Nonito Doniare

ZACATECAS, ZACATECAS - On Saturday night, former world champion Cristian Mijares took a step towards his goal of landing a bantamweight title shot. Recently he vacated his IBF super flyweight title after stuggling with weight. on Saturday, he landed tremendous right hands to stop Colombia's Jonathan Perez in three rounds. Mijares (41-6-2, 19KOs) feels ready for a title shot, and wants either WBO super bantamweight champ Jorge Arce or WBC/WBO bantamweight king Nonito Donaire. Mijares dominated Arce at super flyweight in 2007.

Mijares looked special for a good minute.

          Vic derailed that train.

we all know how that turned out and after that, it was all downhill from there.

Darchinyan didn't ruin him (he put a huge beating on him), but for some reason he changed his style in his next few fights which made him lose. Honestly he started coming forward more and stopped boxing, which made him successful.

He looked a bit better when he won the 115 IBF title, but he's past his prime now.

He was my favorite fighter at one point. His ability to slip punches was amazing, he coud do it all. His downfall was his arrogance and his smugness. He felt unbeatable and he said multiple times that Darchinyan was going to be easy work because he was the much better boxer. He seems to be gaining some momentum again but I doubt he's going to be on the same level he once was. Those two fights with Cermeņo made him take a big step back even though I thought he won the frist fight.
