They were hyping him because he's a good fighter! Problem with boxing is one loss and your a bum! The best fighter in UFC Anderson Silva has four losses he's still P4P 1 in boxing one loss everyone wants to write you off? Berto is a top fighter.

HBO Trying Its Best To Rebuild Berto...

Totally agree with the TS about Berto, took the words right outta my mouth.
Not to say Berto isn't a good fighter cause he is, but it's disgusting how hell bent HBO are on making Berto into a star, when there are far more deserving fighters out there not even getting half his money.

Why are Boxing fans terrible because they aren't Berto fan's? Can someone explain that to me please?
Why are we acting like these people critisize every single up and coming fighter? They don't.
I personally like lots of young, up and coming fighters. I like Adrien Broner, Amir Khan, Gary Russell, Andre Ward, Victor Ortiz the list goes on and on.
Alot of people are critical of Andre Berto because he is the epitome of a new age overhyped fighter who is genuinely not very good.
The man's what? 27-28 years old? And his best wins are Carlos Quintana, Luiz Collazo and Jan Zaveck? And most people felt he lost to Collazo including myself. And he struggled with Zaveck and Quintana aswell.
Isn't it understandable that people get annoyed when a fighter like this is a two time World Champion and is getting compared to Sugar Ray Leonard on live Television when he isn't that good.
I'm sorry that I don't like Andre Berto. And I'm sorry that I call him not very good because he has struggled with every average fighter he has faced and hasn't looked impressive against them and the only time he has stepped up in class he was beaten convincingly.

Yep, it was disgusting. Zavec was hitting clean shots and they do not even mention it, while they mentioned all bertos punches when most landed on the gloves. Worse of all they pretended like the headbutt never happened. disappointing IMO

Then when he fights a little tougher challengers where he's a 4.5-1 favorite, he either loses or gets a highly disputed win

Berto is over hyped, that's not really criticism of Berto. It's more of a criticism of the ones who are over hyping him.
Berto being manufactured by HBO is not a knock on Berto. It's a knock on HBO.
Berto just being an average fighter at best, the lack of skills, defense, his lack of improving is criticism that goes to him personally. But, every fighter to Judah, Pac, Cotto, Marg get, Rios, get those exact same criticism. And, deservedly so no?
