Karlstad, Sweden - Frida Wallberg retained the WBC jr lightweight title with a unanimous ten round decision over Canadian Olivia Gerula. It was scored 99-91 and 98-92 twice in fastpaced no knockdown, little drama affair. Wallberg was overall too fast and strong and was a popular winner.

It's said this was the final event in Karlstad because of lack of interest.

There was a time, not long ago, when all Swedes could name the heavyweight champ of the world. Now they haven't a clue, and they don't bother.

The mess the ****ty sanction bodies have brought the boxing sport into is ruining it, not only in Sweden but worldwide. And the public interest in boxing will continue to decrease unless all the W-WTF organizations are deprived of their present power.

Yes, its perhaps not at its overall best, but I find it rather interesting at present, with recent wins for Povetkin and Helenius, and one of the Klitschkos crossing the 40-year barrier.

I grew up in the golden era when it was Frazier, Foreman and Ali who ruled, and later Holmes (my personal favorite). Though, however boring they are to watch, I do admire the Klitschkos for their effectiveness. And I do think they would have been a great force also in that golden era.

Boxing is dead in Sweden! Nice. What will boxing do without Sweden? Oh man, look at all the great Swedish champions throughout history. There's ... and then there's ...

You don't get it, do you? It's not about Sweden. It's about the status boxing used to have - worldwide. Before you were born.

Oh no, I'm agreeing with you. Boxing is dead. Popularity wise that is. There will always be boxers and there will always be fights.
