Nathan Cleverly will defend his WBO light-heavyweight title against Tony Bellew at Liverpool’s ECHO Arena on October 15th in a fight that promoter Frank Warren believes will propel the winner into a showdown with Bernard Hopkins should ‘B-Hop’ turn back the challenge of Chad Dawson on the same night.

You can forget about Clev's Maths Degree cos if u put him in with B-hop, it's back to school he goes.

I'm not going to mention Bellow in the same breath as B-hop.

        Don't do it Fish Eyes.

          Cleverly should win this fight.

Bellew has a chance with Cleverly reckless fighting and defence.

Cleverly, even though he could lose to Bellew is streets ahead in ability.

If Bellew wins, I can understand Warren putting Bellew in with Hopkisn or Dawson as he's poor and would lose his strap soon enough anyway so get as good a pay day as he can for himself and Warren.

However, Clev has big potential, he's green as can be at the moment and has so much to learn but he has talent and if matured right and brought along stepping up his level of oppo bit by bit - could be ready for the elite in 18 months 2 years, and he'd still only be 26.

This move by Warren, Ray Charles can see - he's sacrificing Cleverly for a big day by putting him in with Hopkins now.

Clev is nowhere near ready and Bellew (even if he beats Cleverly) will never be ready.

He'll ruin Cleverly - Hopkins will ruin him. Mentally he just won't come back from it.

A lot of people slate Clev's Dad and his team, but I've defended them, give them a chance they're learning as well, but, they're the ones that'll have ruined their sons career.

They're the ones that'll have to look him in the eye in the Changing rooms after, deal with his depression and the fact that they're were supposed to looking after his career, bringing him along at the right pace.

They'll have to live with that for the rest of their lives. You build uptp Hopkins, i don't care if he's 46 he could still beat anybody in the M, SMW or LHW dividon.

Pascal had to up his opponents then took Hopkins on - how on earth is Kusemski and Bellew prepare you for Hopkins.

This has just shown Warren up for what he is - blood sucking scum, that doesn't care about his fighters and their long-term careers as long as he lines his own pockets.

This has to be one of the most disgraceful moves I've seen from a promoter in a long-time.

I don't see what B-Hop gets out of it from a legacy standpoint. If you took a poll - I don't think anybody except Cleverly and his family would pick Cleverly to win.

Hopkins would be far better off fighting the S6 winner, Bute or moving upto Cruiserweight and becoming 3 weight World Champ, something that'll really push him up the ATG rankings.

Cleverly Bellew fight would be purely for the money and I didn't think Hopkins was about that.

It's not even a challenge for him, in fact I'd deem it bullying! It's cruel.

It would be a 100% Hopkins for those that understand boxing.

Bookmakers would be betting on whether Cleverly or Bellew would see the 6th round not could they win.

It's career suicide! I mean Cleverly won't become a better fighter because of the loss, mentally it'll ruin him.

Warren hang your head in shame, I defended Warren of late, but this just shows everybody was right about him and his ways.

          Don King would be proud.

Okay Bellew is a crude fighter who Cleverly should easily beat... and yet... Cleverly often gets drawn into ****** slugging fests with lesser opponents, so with Bellew's power there is always a chance of an upset.

If Cleverly boxes anywhere close to his potential its an easy win.

Putting him in with BHop right now is just ******. He just doesn't have enough experience to fight someone of his calibre.

Lol at the prospect of Bellew vs Hopkins. Cleverly will stop Bellew easily. I do, however, think Cleverly's work rate and speed would make a Hopkins fight interesting.

It wouldn't make it interesting because Hopkins through movement would control and dictate the pace of the fight.

He's got more tricks then Houdini, he slow the pace, frustrate Cleverly - Cleverly's gets desperate ans wild and he breaks Cleverly down and takes him out.

It doesn't bare thinking about at this stage, it's all about knowledge - one's a master and has the biggest Ring IQ in boxing the other is green as can be right now.

You want a unification - Shumenov, then Cloud, then Hopkins, he'll likely still be here.

Cleverly or Bellew at this stage bring little to the table in terms of belt, prestige or legacy for Bhop so his only motivation for taking the fight is money.

I really didn't think Hopkins was about that, he's earned enough.

Froch if he wins the S6 should be the first choice for B-Hop as far as prestige and legacy goes, the money too.

I'd like to see Hopkins become a 3 weight World Champ and nail his ATG status with a ****, not fighting green novices for strap that means nothing for a guy like Hopkins.
