Comments Thread For: Liakhovich's Nose Broken in Two Places by Helenius

After turning in a thrilling, gutsy and bloody performance last night vs. Robert Helenius, in Erfurt, Germany, Former Heavyweight Champion Sergei Liakhovich was taken to a local emergency room in the early morning hours where a CT scan revealed that the warrior's nose had been broken in two places during the bout.

Good to read Kathy Duva will be keeping Sergei active.

Too bad there are not more contentious promoters like Kathy.

The de****able Don King "shelved" poor Lyakhovich for several periods of 18 months. After one of those long stretches, he had an unprepared Sergei fight Valuev on short notice.

liakhovich's stock went up, despite being brutally stopped. . . he proved he still has what it takes to compete. gotta respect this man for coming to FIGHT; he could have easily pulled a haye, collected his paycheck, and went home. . . but no! he fought his ass of, and will continue to fight onward!

poor kotelnik is getting shafted by king. . . he could be right back in contention for a title shot by now. . . and i would TITTY-PHOOCK the dog-sheet outta kathy duva! lol

Aye, thats true! He showed he still is worth something. And chose to continue after getting dropped in the 8th and bleeding badly. He's a warrior alright. And a good boxer. He just doesn't have enough power to be a force.

I wish this version of Liakhovich had been around the last few years. After Brewster he really fell of in terms of conditioning, and his preparation against Valuev was awful.

this motivated Liakhovich was a real joy to see. I feel his ability has been wasted a bit, but I hope to see him back in action after his injuries heal.

he fought his ass off against Helenius, and you have to respect him for that. I dont think its too farfetched to say that a motivated Liakhovich would have beaten today's Chagaev and Povetkin, but thats up for debate.

Props to Lyakhovich. A real warrior who gave it his all. Here's wishing him a speedy recovery and the promise of more good fights to come.

I was worried he may retire. Real happy to hear he'll keep fighting. Liakhovich-Arreola please.

Props to Lyakhovich, he showed incredible heart and toughness and was winning the fight until he got KTFO by the heavy handed beast Helenius.
