Comments Thread For: Anthony Dirrel in Number One Spot To Froch's WBC Belt

In the latest WBC ratings, undefeated super middleweight contender Anthony Dirrell (23-0, 20KOs) has grabbed the number one spot in the WBC's rankings. The current champion, Carl Froch, will return on October 29th in a unification bout with WBA champion Andre Ward. Dirrell's brother, Andre Dirrell, lost a close twelve round split decision to Froch in the first stage of the Super Six tournament in 2009. Andre has been inactive since suffering an injury during his 2010 disqualification win over Arthur Abraham. Mikkel Kessler is still listed as the WBC's Emeritus champion and gets the first shot at the WBC title. Noe Gonzalez, the WBC's silver champion at the weight, may also be ahead of the line.

He should continue stepping up the comp before taking on Froch. He' got a lot of talent.

I wonder who he'll fight when Froch loses the title.

WBC rankings are a total joke.

What earned this dude his no.1 contender slot? A win on Friday Night Fights? Is that all it takes? Jose, please do all of us a favour and go run for mayor in one of those gangtowns in northern mexico.

This kid is good, very fast.

If the fight gets made it could very well be Froch's second loss to a Dirrell.

Unfortunately he won't be fighting Froch for the belt.

I agree with the earlier post, he should take some step up fights first. They need to reschedule the Alejandro Berrio fight, then maybe Sakio Bika after?

                  WAR DIRRELL!!

So, if Ward beats Froch will Dirrell be the number one spot for Ward's WBC belt?
