It’s the sort of boxing crime that will spawn urban legend, touches of myth. As the days pass into months and years, many will forget how good a fight it really was, how closely competed and how much of a rally now former IBF Bantamweight titlist Joseph Agbeko (28-3, 22 KO needed.

If the ref hadn't been paid off by golden girl he would have taken a point early in the fight and Mares would have either A: stop throwing low blows, which would have left Agbeko with fresher legs late to post a stronger rally or B: continue throwing low blows and get disqualified. Either way agbeko wins with fair scoring. Even with Mora doing everything in his power to make mares win, I still had agbeko winning 116-112. I scored the 11th round even, as the judges should have, if not ignore the knockdown call alltogether like they did in the scoring of Pacquiao Mosley

it's true that out Agbeko was mostly ineffective and tentative until about round 9 when Mares starting tiring -- but the constant low blows definitely were a factor -- Agbeko needs to start stronger mext time and wear Mares down with his work rate
