If you haven't been watching boxing your entire life, you should never watch it.

According to some people on this forum, if you are relatively new to boxing, you can't possibly make a good point; in fact, you probably shouldn't even watch the sport. You should allow it to stagnate with the same fan base it has had for years until it becomes completely irrelevant. This is the worst attitude I have seen in some time regarding acceptance of a new fan to the sport--most people are happy to oblige. I should probably tell the 10-15 fans I've attracted to the sport to just stop watching it and let it die--maybe I will.

Oh, and in case you thought admitting your ignorance of some particular aspect of a subject would be taken into consideration, you're wrong. It's assumed you know nothing. I guess everyone on this forum should probably shut up about any fighter prior to the 80's huh?

    Correct me if i'm wrong

I think the main problem with the new fans seems to be the perception that they are fans of a single fighter and not of the sport of Boxing. Mayweather fans heard this for years, now Manny's fans are hearing it. Alot of that comes from people who say they started watching boxing when Manny fought Oscar who then turn around and call Manny the greatest boxer of all time. They base this on bias and an article they came across somewhere. Those fans give all the other fans a bad name (not to single out Manny, just an example.)

No, no. It's not like that.

You should be able to feel passionate about boxing "even" if you're new to the sport.

But you should be very open to the ideas that the much more knowledgeable posters put forth. (not talking about me, but guys like jrosales, irondanhamza, nchristo etc)

Keep discussing and questioning. But keep an open mind that you might be wrong.
