  • Comments Thread For: Richard ‘The Secret’ Williams Backs Darren Barker

Barnet stylist Darren Barker faces the stiffest test of his professional career when travelling to Atlantic City’s Boardwalk Hall venue on October 1st to challenge 160lb WBC ‘diamond’ titlist Sergio Gabriel Martinez. ‘Dazzling’ holds a perfect record, 23-0 (14), and has held the British, Commonwealth and EBU middleweight straps, however he has a hard assignment on his plate given Martinez’s recent form.

Martinez is a lot better than 6 or 7 years ago, and certainly a hard puncher at 160 pounds.

Martinez didn't pick up a pair of gloves until very late; he was very green a few years back...expect Martinez to win late or decisively on points.

according to mayweather, boxers just don't "start getting good" in there 30's. they are on steroids if they do! sergio on steroids? manny on steroids? they lost early in their careers, were even stopped, and now they are doing what they are doing? STEROIDS! hahaha.

i have a bet that barker will win if hes conditioned he's a slick fighter and i think he wins on points the only way martinez wins is a knockout but barker has a solid chin come onnn barker !!

I remember watching them 2 fights. 'The Secret' was one ov my fav domestic fighters. Although He was finished when he fought the rematch.
I just cant see how Barker can beat Martinez atm, he's a much better fighter now.

If you haven't seen it, here it is. Martinez gets knocked down twice.

After seeing Barker against Samuels, I can't see how he'll be a problem to Martinez. He'll most likely get knocked out.

And Martinez is certainly not the same fighter he was when he fought Richard Williams.
