PROMOTER: JO JO DAN WILLING TO COME TO USA TO FIGHT SHAWN PORTER
By Stephen "Breadman" Edwards
Boxing talk: Chris, you are the CEO of Gankor Promotions, which promotes Jo Jo Dan. I assume you are calling in response to Shawn Porter's interview a couple of days ago?
Chris Ganescu, CEO of Gankor Promotions (Jo Jo Dan's promoter): Yes I am. I want to set the record straight. Shawn Porter must have recieved incorrect information from his promoter Brian Young [Prize Fight Promotions]. They never made us an offer to come to the United States and fight. We actually want to come to the U.S. and fight, because it's more exposure in the U.S. We made them an offer to come here and fight and Brian Young turned it down. They never made a counter offer.
BT: Can you tell me what the offer was?
CG: No, I won't get into exactly what the offer was. If they want to tell you, then fine. But an offer was made.
BT: So you're saying, you are willing to bring your fighter Jo Jo Dan to the United States to fight Shawn Porter?
CG: Yes. I am willing to risk my fighter against a good undefeated fighter like Porter. We actually made Mike Jones an offer and he turned it down also. Jo Jo Dan is actually ranked higher by the WBC than Porter and we were willing to risk our ranking.
BT: Interesting. So now that the Porter fight is off the table, what's next for Jo Jo Dan?
CG: He will be fighting for the WBC (Carribean) title. And after that, hopefully a bigger name
