Kelly Pavlik is still messed up in the head.

Being an alcoholic may not of cost his middleweight championship to Martinez and a bad loss to Hopkins but as a person it did ruin him. He has a disease and still in the interview he pretty much said winning another title would be more important to him than getting back in rehab. He isn't going to win a title until he cleans himself up and accepts his problem. Part of being a great fighter/athlete is a mindset and his mindset is in the crapper.Comment

I think the B-hop loss, ruined his confidence and sense of self worth, I mean he probably thought this is an old man who will never be able to keep up with his pace and then he gets totally dominated by that same old man, maybe he will find a new drinking buddy in Pascal but its pretty clear he is never going to be a relevant world class fighter again.Being an alcoholic may not of cost his middleweight championship to Martinez and a bad loss to Hopkins but as a person it did ruin him. Agreed, Hopkins took a lot from him but I wouldn't write him off just yet. Hopkins and Martinez are two great, very crafty fighters, ain't many like them. Kelly can beat guys at 160/168 like Abraham, Kessler, maybe even Froch but he has no chance if he is still fighting demons of substance abuse. He has to clean that problem up before he dedicates himself to fighting again or else he will get hurt. The Bute fight is another bad matchup but not impossible if he actually dedicates himself and that can't be done until you close that book on drinking.I think the B-hop loss, ruined his confidence and sense of self worth, I mean he probably thought this is an old man who will never be able to keep up with his pace and then he gets totally dominated by that same old man, maybe he will find a new drinking buddy in Pascal but its pretty clear he is never going to be a relevant world class fighter again.Comment

I'm from warren, ohio which is bout 20 mins from youngstown, and when pavlik won his first fight against taylor he could do no wrong in our area. I would hear stories about his drinking and how every 1 wanna buy the champ a drink and that prob started the drinking problem. Then after the b hop fight I didn't hear to much about the bars anymore as he prob was stayin in and drinking and depressed. I hope he can get it together not just 4 boxing but to live a good healthy life...Comment

Even I can admit he's ruined, and you can see the sig.
Take a look at the Taylor and Miranda fights, then compare it to his fight with Lopez? He does not have that killer mentality to compliment his style anymore. He looked weary and afraid to close the distance against Lopez, but he wasn't afraid to eat Miranda's right hand bombs at a consistent rate? Something isn't right, cause the Pavlik I know would never show respect to his opponents punching power.Comment
