Khan: 'Pound-for pound, I'm way ahead of all the other British fighters'

Khan, 24, will be defending his WBA light-welterweight crown in Las Vegas against IBF title-holder Judah.

"Pound-for pound, I'm way ahead of all the other British fighters, and I think people know that," Khan told BBC Sport.

"[US broadcaster] HBO thinks I'm the best British fighter, the most skilful and the most exciting to watch."
Amir Khan believes his world title unification fight against Zab Judah on Saturday will prove beyond doubt he is Britain's premier fighter.

    BBC SPORT'S BRITISH RANKINGS

    1 David Haye
    2 Carl Froch
    3 Amir Khan
    4 Kell Brook
    5 Nathan Cleverly
    6 Matthew Macklin
    7 Kevin Mitchell
    8 Rendall Munroe
    9 Ricky Burns
    10 Darren Barker
BBC, Sport, BBC Sport, bbc.co.uk, world, uk, international, foreign, british, online, service

All hypothetical of course but even if he beats Judah I'm not sure Khan can really claim to have a better record/resume than Froch. Also, in b4 Medved's rage at the Beeb having Haye at #1 lol

Froch pobably pissed his pants laughin at this. Amir has potential but in all honesty his resume isnt even the best at his own division. Maidana is his only great win and he was still a b- level fighter, all others he fought have been C level fighters. Not saying he wont beat better fighters but his resume is owned by Frotch at this point

I am sure Froch would have something to say about that & maybe Ricky Burns too. Khan has developed this really crazy ego to the point his own fans are starting to want to see him get a reality check.

Sure he'd probably win 120-108 on all cards but claiming he would knock Lovemore N'dou out in less than 5 I very very much doubt that.

He has a point with the Kell Brook thing but it's high risk - low reward, he won't risk that, he'll keep dreaming about beating Floyd at Wembley (presuming A mere con gets past Judah)

I personally think his ego is crazy & if he ever did move up & fight Kell Brook, my money would be on Kell wiping Khans clock for him. How could you not respect Kells performance against N'dou? He dominated him as well as anybody has in his 65-70 fight career. Also has a nerve IMO when you take into consideration just how poor he looked against McCloskey in his last fight.

            The way I see it:

            Barrera -------- C+
            Kotelnik ------- B-
            Salita --------- C-
            Malignaggi ----- B+
            Maidana ------- A-
            McCloskey ----- C-

Maidana is clearly his best win and I think Judah is a B+ fighter (formerly an A-)

As for Khan himself, I think he's an A- fighter aiming to become an A+

            Thoughts?

He isn't ahead of Froch and despite Haye having struggles against Klit, he isn't ahead of him either. Haye was the man at cruiserweight and mind you CW aint JWW but to be the man at the divison speaks volumes, and he moved up(in reality it would be multiple weight classes) to heavy and still is probably top 5 in that division. Khans in a better division but his resume isn't enough to trump what Haye did at CW and HW.

The funniest thing is that the BBC have Haye above Froch in their rankings

I know P4P rankings are subjective but come on

Just look at their respective records ffs

Ruiz, Valuev, Barrett, Mormeck and Maccarinelli or Taylor, Pascal, Abraham, Dirrell and Johnson

Added to the fact that Froch fights every few months, where as Haye is lucky if he fights twice a year

David Haye is/was nothing but a poster boy

Froch>>>>>>>Haye any day of the week

Froch clearly ahead of Haye but Haye isn't a poster boy. Haye was the man at CW and even though it's a paper belt(Khan has one too), he had one at HW. Haye might be taking the bad end of the stick because of his last performance but he's done more than Khan.
