Comments Thread For: Ageing Evander Holyfield an After-Sought Boxer in SA

Evander Holyfield might have long passed his sell-by date with his bouts characterized by frowns than praises but in South Africa he still seems to be an after-sought commodity as he is the subject of a tug-of-war.

Who taught you to type it like that? Or, are you just another moron?

Yeah, some fighters seem to be pretty ****** when it comes to their finances. Their people might just be too sneaky, as well...

Medved, believe me, it's more than Some boxers w/there $$ the one in the past 20 yrs that really cleaned up and got out healthy, and you don't see him much, is, and he would've beat all these pretenders today, especially hopkins, is Michael Spinks, who is living very elegantly, and quiety, in Delaware. Great for Michael!

Yea but we are just starting to learn how brain damage works, only in recent years have the studies been coming out on NFL Players/Boxer's who have took alot of damage.

Is it really worth shortening your life for a few dollars? Look at half the defensive NFL players and alot of boxers.

They dont live to a long age and have tons of injuries/diseases that are just being diagnosed.

I have a feeling in 20 years that 40 year old wont even be cleared to fight by the commision much less dudes pushing 50.

This is so sad. And before anyone brings up George Foreman in his last fighting days, Holyfield is in no way physically or mentally in the same state as George was! This is just more evidence that the sport is on a steady decline that a bout like this would even be entertained for consideration!!!

WHO CARES? You Guys Writing About Holyfield & Botha Ought To Be Drug Tested!

Why are we given an article like this.... is there so little in Boxing for you fools to write about, that this is a story to you? I'd be embarrassed to put my name on this article, which I didn't read and went straight to replying. Holyfield for the last how many years has said this is all about getting a title shot, unify the titles he says, and retire. How does Botha play into that? How is Nielsen part of that plan, having been retired for what... 12 years? Holyfield is seeking paychecks with a storyline he sells, and everyone has caught on. That's why he's fighting abroad. Nobody buys his story here. I have always loved the guy, in his prime, he was a warrior. But I almost can't remember how long ago that was, so that should tell you something. I have as much watching or even reading about Holyfield, as I would have in watching a 55 year old Michael Spinks make a comeback. Why isn't Evander pounding the table, making a scene, calling out the Klitschko Bros? Why isn't he fighting a Thompson, or a top 5 contender, to get in a mandatory spot to fight for the title? Nobody will give this fool a shot unless he beats someone other than a Botha or Nielsen. He couldn't handle a fat Tank Williams, actually quit. I WISH a Klitschko would give him a shot, and knock him out cold, so we don't have to hear about his dream. And you worthless writers aren't tempted to write about as much, being forced to go find a real boxing story, or go get a job in the Mall. ****** journalism.
