Comments Thread For: Early Results From Indio, California

By Jake Donovan - Standout super bantamweight prospect Randy Caballero survived his toughest test to date, taking an eight-round decision over Alexis Santiago in a battle of unbeaten prospects Friday evening at Fantsay Springs Casino in Indio, California.

Scores were 80-72 and 79-73 in their Telefutura-televised co-feature bout.

Santiago was persistent in his attacked, but reminded throughout the bout that it’s not wise to try to stand and trade with Caballero, who can effortlessly switch back and forth between boxing and trading. [Click Here To Read More]

he's had fights at welterweight and lightwelterweight so far in his career, but yeah, he weighed in at 137, the lightest he's been.
caballero had himself a challenge, it was entertaining fight imo, i liked it. gomez didn't impress me much, he fought a guy who had zero KOs and 5 losses, a true bum. he also hit him while he was down, really want to see gomez fight some fair comp. this along with fnf, pretty good night of boxing

Caballero is a solid prospect. Gomez, on the other hand, needs alot of work. I can almost guarantee that Golden Boy has started to regret paying this kid the huge signing bonus they did (reportedly $300,000). Hopefully he tightens up that guard and gets better.
