Comments Thread For: Humberto Soto: I'm Moving Up To Junior Welterweight

Cozumel, Mexico - WBC lightweight champion Humberto Soto (56-7-2, 32 KOs) is looking for bigger challenges at a bigger weight. The Mexican champion made the fourth defense of his title on Saturday night with a lopsided ten round technical decision over Japanese challenger Motoki Sasaki (36-9, 23 KOs). After the match, Soto said "I'm going to move up to junior welterweight." Soto wants to target some of lucrative names at the weight - like Amir Khan, Erik Morales, Timothy Bradley, Marcos Maidana, Devon Alexander and several others.

He doesn't want none of Bam Bam. He just wants a pay day. I bet he wants to challenge Erik Morales. He keeps chasing fighters he couldn't beat in their prime and now wants them since they are older and shop worn.

Soto, you puto go back to Lightweight and become the lineal champ. Junior Welterweight, I bet you want the easy fighters too. I bet you will call out Timothy Bradley and Erik Morales.

Don't have the balls like Erik Morales to challenge the biggest puncher out there. Your career pretty much is all that avoid fighters at their prime beat them in their down slide.

I agree that he is disappointing because he's a skilled boxer, he could actually fight with the best, I just think he's lazy and just fights for some money.

definitely skilled, and the fact that he hasn't called out Marquez or fought Rios is just ******, he could have been making some good money with those fights. I can't believe hes retiring soon.

Soto is a joke. He's fought one solid opponent (Urbano Antillon) and one good opponent (Joan Guzman) in the last five years... The majority of his career has been wasted in mediocre fights (and performances). He and his followers claim he cannnot get a good-name opponent. However, the real reason he has not received the attention his Mexican counterparts have is because of his performances against the likes of Joan Guzman, Francisco Lorenzo 2, David Diaz, Gamaliel Diaz, and that Colombian before this Jap! He fights with almost no passion... Don't get me wrong, he's been in good fights: Rocky Juarez and Urbano Antillon (I was there for this one), but he seems to have one good showing and five mediocre ones! Now he's gonna move up to try to gain a third championship in as many weightclasses (so he can match JCC, EM, MAB, and JMM); the fact is, however, that he can be the first Mexican to become a champion at four different weightclasses and he would still be below all those fighters!!! Step your game up Soto!!!

Soto is a cardboard Champion that has gotten his titles with the help of PARASITE Sulaiman..Especially his second world title, when the REAL champ was Edwin Valero & Sulaiman made 1 of his B U L L S H I T moves to favor his Mexican comrade make it easier for him to get another world title & declared Valero "Champion in Recess" & somehow the title became vacant & Soto got it by beating David Diaz who WASN'T EVEN RANKED AT THE TIME!!Besides Antillón, Soto has ducked all the other ranked fighters!!
