So before the fight, I read Rhodes was Canelo's 1st real test...

good win for alvarez. but rhodes did disappoint with his gameplan, like roy jones said after the fight, "that's why you never go into the fight looking for a knockout". but yeah, saul showed improvement, he's on the right track

It has to be said, RR was disappointing.

If I have to give props to Alvarez it would be this: You are now a legit 154lb champion in beating Rhodes. Now, fight someone who is legitimately at the Top 5 of Junior Middleweight not some elevated fighter months before the fight. If I remember correctly Ryan Rhodes was ranked Top 7 to 10 at the organizational belts ranking system.

Fight a Top 5 like that boxer who Martinez just defeated at Middleweight who was a legitimate undefeated fighter at Junior Middleweight. If Canelo beats him then I'll stop talking smack about him.

I think he is fine fighting the top 15. cotto fought mayorga, angulo hasn't fought but will most likely rack up some tuneups i believe. williams is fighting lara (who is a ranked fighter), and k9 is fighting powell. i think fighting a natural lmw or experienced ranked fighter is good enough, no need to rush him against angulo or cotto. wolak or the winner of powell/k9 or even vanes would be a great fight for him next.
