Comments Thread For: Karim Mayfield Stops Steve Forbes in Ten Rounds

At the Frank Erwin Center in Austin, Texas, welterweight prospect Karim Mayfield (14-0, 9KOs) stopped former champion Steve Forbes (35-10, 11KOs) in the tenth round of a very ugly fight. Forbes stunned with a series of punches prior to the stoppage. The first time Forbes has been stopped a probably a good sign that he might need to hang them up. Forbes, a former lightweight champion, was unable to make the weight for this fight and came in weighing over 148-pounds and was forced to pay Mayfield as portion of his purse. It was Forbes' seventh loss in his last ten fights.

stoppage wasn't the most deserved - forbes was still slipping and weaving on the ropes perfectly conscious, lucid, and aware.

mayfield looked similar to hatton with his technique on the inside. you can tell he has picked up some tools from all the veteran and world class boxers he has put in work with.
for once i agree with teddy, though, he doesn't look that impressive because his style isn't "conducive to the fans".

Horrible fight, it was all holds, clinches, and grabs. Horrible.

Pretty much Mayfield did, Steve did his share as well. But it looked like Steve got soo tired from the holding and bullying from Mayfield that Steve let his guard down and started to take too many shots.

I'm not a fan of Mayfield's boxing style all. :down
