Comments Thread For: Rey Bautista Gets Technical Nod Over Ruiz in Seven

Cebu City Waterfront Hotel & Casino, Philippines - Rey 'Boom Boom' Bautista (31-2, 23KOs) won a seven round technical decision over Heriberto 'Cuate' Ruiz (39-8) in a featherweight bout. Bautista had lost a one-sided eight round decision to Ruiz in 2008. The fight was stopped early in the seventh after the ringside doctor deemed that Bautista's numerous cuts were too dangerous to allow him to continue. The scores were 69-65, 68-65, 68-65 for Bautista. Bautista suffered several cuts from accidental head clashes. Not everyone was happy at ringside, with a few fans voicing their displeasure over the outcome.

Basically, bautista doesn't know how to fight---used ineffective aggression to swarm ruiz and got a home town decision.

Bautista is/was another good prospect that Golden Boy ruined. He was only 21 when they threw him in against the limited, but older and more experienced, Ponce De Leon! He's never been the same since then. The same thing can be said about Vicente Escobedo after Azuquita Jiimenez, Victor Ortiz after Marcos Maidana (minus his performance against Berto), Charles Huerta after Derrick Wilson, and Juan Garcia after Cornelius Lock!

Please, don't blame Goldenboy for filipinos over hyping Bum Bum and making his team except or in many cases involving filipinos, ask for a fight he had no business being in.I read alot of filipino articles and see how you guys think just because your fighters look good against other filipinos, they're world class and worthy of a title shot.Me as a real boxing fan would rather see a goldenboy fighter be challenged insted of a hype job from Top Rank.
Mercito Gesta is a prime example, while with goldenboy was never tested because goldenboy knew He wasn't as good as his people say and now he moved to top rank for protection.but mark my word as soon as He gets a real fighter in front of him,He'll go down just like the rest.

He can only win like this at home and like a one trick pony, it's going to get old quick. How many times can you win by getting cut to ribbons? They are not helping him with this sort of home cooking.
