The racket Squad: Antonio Enters The Late Show

Tarver is an interesting case in the 'older fighter' files.
He has not absorbed a great deal of punishment and knows his way around the ring better then most elder glovesmen.
But his reflexes and legs have obviously been altered by the clock.
So does a Green win place him back in contender status?

The Green KO over Jones was the permanant red light that Roy has since ignored.
On the HBO Chavez telecast, Jones still defended his 'career' with ego riddled garbage about 'feeling like Michael Jackson for a day' while in Moscow.
That Russian exploit was the fight that could have killed him.
What the hell is worth a big plate of brain damage?
That's a great message on how to exit gracefully Mr. Jones.

Mr.John Duddy heads the current list of knowing how to leave the 'bittersweet science' with chin held high.

Tarver is still fighting because he can and because he has treated the sport with dignity. He is also clear about what it represents in his own head.
He is, excuse the cliche, 'a credit to this sport.'
Antonio is also quite under rated as a commentator and is much smarter then most talking heads in the game, especially Roy.

Tarver's style and experience should get him past Green.
I hope it earns him one final decent pay night.
He's one of the true good guys in a game that is too often a sewer of ego and deflated values.

After all, this is a sport where a Mayweather thinks he's doing the world a favor by fighting Victor Ortiz.
Even worse, Manny allowed himself to think that Mosely was still viable fight fare.

    Good Luck Antonio!
    You deserve it.
