  • Comments Thread For: Jorge Arce To Return on Pacquiao-Marquez Undercard

On Wednesday, WBO super bantamweight champion Jorge 'Travieso' Arce (57-6-2, 44KOs) of Mexico was honored in Puerto Rico by the World Boxing Organization. When he came on the podium to speak, he publicly promised to give Wilfredo 'Papito' Vázquez a rematch, but first Arce will make a voluntary defense on the November 12 undercard to the Manny Pacquiao-Juan Manuel Marquez trilogy at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

I wonder who's he going to fight. A fight against jessie albaracin would be interesting to make it a Mexico vs Philippines card. For some reason he's ranked high by the WBO so it could happen.

Arce will not be booed as much in Puerto Rico as he would in New York.
I find that most of the hate, from both sides come from Mexican/Americans and Puerto Rican/Americans.
Most people who were born and raised in the island understand that its a rivalry and there is mutual respect from both nations, as most of the Mexicans in Mexico. For some reason when they live in America the rivalry contains a lot of hatred.

Like Don King says: ONLY IN AMERICA!!! :

Boxing is a violent sport and sometimes brings out the violence in us. If your a true fan you learn to control that and respect the sport for what it is. JUST A SPORT. If your a hardcore azzhole and don't know how to lose. Then you get some of these foo's you are talking about.

You said most hate comes from Mexican/American and Puerto rican/american. That is totally false. I think your just taking this website as your main source.

That's one of the biggest crocks of shit I've ever read. Totally false. Everyone has their bad apples.

No sir, I have been to many boxing shows in Mexico, and usually I find their is usually mutual respect. Is it a rivalry, yes, but not violent hatred. I have also had a lot of boxing conversations with Puerto Ricans, who actually live or are from the island, and they seem the same way. Strong rivalry but mutual respect.
However when I saw Oscar/Tito in Vegas 10 years ago, there I saw more of the violent hatred towards each other.

Ey...A couple of bad apples shouldn't represent Mexican/Americans.

SIR, I don't know many Puerto Ricans out here in cali but I can say all my Bro's and friends are mexican american and we never get violent @ boxing shows. My cousin does but that's just my point. One bad apple in the group shouldn't represent the whole group. And one bad mex/amer Group in a boxing show shouldn't represent all mexican/americans at that event.

Negative. Boxing isn't that popular with Mexican-Americans and they know little of the sport, much less anything about any rivalry.
