What Arum said about Martinez is the same thing Dibella said about Pirog or are the circumstances different?

dibella and arum just like schaeffer , delahoya , shaw , king......they're promoters.

    they're all the same.

they do what's best for their pocketbooks and their fighters. in that order.

people want to say this guy is worse or that guy is better but in the end they have a job to do and they all do it similarly.

The Circumstances are really not that different. And, I'm also a Martinez fan and been a Martinez fan every since Oscar had Sulaiman take Martinez off his mandatory status in 2006.

I think Dibella is being hypocritical but that's fine. At the end of the day he's doing his job as a promoter. Because, he's trying to get the best possible fight for his fighter that's his job. Just like Arum is doing his job by getting the best possible fight for hi fighter.

I'm not mad with Dibella or disagree with Dibella. Not mad at Arum either.

I get upset with the posters who act hypocritical. Either you shit on both for doing their job or you give both a pass for doing their job.

Why act like one is different than the other is beyond me.

Yes, but Pirog lost simmer in his last fight. He probably would be fighting him in October, from HBO's checkbook, if he had looked good in his last win. To Dibella and co, it was bull**** that the WBO stripped Martinez when it hadnt even been a full year yet since the Pavlik fight. Pirog didnt really go through the ranks like Martinez did.

Some of the things Dibella has said though are very hypocritical.

          Let's see:

          1. Martinez wants Chavez over Pirog because it will make Sergio more money, but Dibella is b1tching and moaning when the table is flipped and Arum makes Chavez vs Cotto because it brings in more money.

          2. Martinez has been jumping at the opportunity to face Cotto, so why is he mad that Chavez is doing it? Also Martinez says Pacquiao fights shot fighters and only fights for money, but isn't that want he was trying to do by facing Cotto. Also he cries about cherry picking, yet he wanted to fight guys like Andy Lee and Chavez Jr. over guys like Golovkin and Pirog.

          3. Dibella and Martinez used the same "no one knows who he is and he isn't a draw" excuse with Pirog and Dzinzurik, yet cry when it's done to them.

Dibella and Martinez are hypocrites who are only whining because someone is pulling the same **** on them as they have done with other fighters.

Dibella. I applaud Dibella and Martinez for fighting whoever HBO puts in front of them, but to complain and accuse top rank of something they are doing also is disingenuous and hypocritical.

EXACTLY! Even if they have to LIE AND DECEIVE FANS TO DO IT...But all of their #1 Priorities...IS NOT TO MAKE THE FANS HAPPY...BUT TO MAKE A LOT OF DAMN MONEY!

Absolutely. Martinez is just too dangerous and doesn't bring enough money for guys like Cotto, Chavez, etc. Maybe it is time for Martinez to purposely look **** in his next fight so that the high level of risk he presents to the bigger stars comes down

Martinez may not bring immediate $$ for Chavez, but beating Martinez will instantly legitimize Chavez as the #2 p4p fighter of the world, which means more $$ in his future, more credibility, and more fame. That's a pretty big thing Martinez brings to the table for Chavez. And even if he isn't that famous, Martinez is a bigger name than all of Chavez' previous opponents so not being a PPV seller is a BS excuse.

And as I explain here, Chavez as an opponent would do a lot for Martinez as well.

On the other hand, what the hell does Pirog bring to the table? Nothing. He wont' bring any money nor will he do anything for Martinez career. Right after Martinez schools him, Pirog will be called an overhyped prospect and having him on Martinez resume would be meaningless.

No he would not. And, that is a ridiculous logic.

Wouldn't that happen with JCC Jr as well?

Why is everybody overrating JCC Jr all of a sudden? I don't get what just happened. Overnight this dude became arguably the best MW not named Martinez. WTF?
