  • Comments Thread For: Hopkins: I Think Canada Would Like Me To Fight Bute

Before a sellout crowd of 17,560 at Montreal's Bell Centre, 46-year-old Bernard Hopkins made boxing history by becoming the oldest man to win a major world title. Hopkins secured a twelve round unanimous decision over Jean Pascal to win the WBC/IBO light heavyweight titles. Hopkins (52-5-2, 32 KOs) is already mapping out his future opponents. First he is contractually obligated to face former champion Chad Dawson next. After Dawson, Hopkins would love to return to Canada to fight undefeated IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute.

After Bute will knock out Mendy in July, it will be interesting to see his next opponent. Fighting Hopkins would be extremely hard and dangerous.

Bute and Dawson are both dangerous fights for Hopkins. In the article it says a fight won't happen between the two because of network problems, he might as well fight Dawson in the meantime.

I don't know man if the dollars are high enough ANY fight becomes attractive. I mean Bute is Montreal's last real hope to beat the American! haha . . .

Bute will fight Kessler after this stay busy fight in Romania. Winner will fight the super 6 champ around this time next year. Super six champ then fights the top LHW - by end of 2012 that could be either Dawson, Hopkins, or maybe even Cloud.

What do u guys think is next for Pascal?

Hopkins should retire like he promised his dead mother he would 6 years ago.

I think Dawson should earn a shot by fighting Pascal because remember Pascal beat him. The winner gets a shot.
