Sechew Powell's adviser Greg Leon reached out to BoxingScene.com to issue a comment to a story we ran this morning in which IBF junior middleweight champion Cornelius "K9" Bundrage said that he has not yet signed a contract to face Powell who is the #1 ranked challenger by the IBF. Bundrage had advised BoxingScene.com that he had no problem facing Powell who he must face in a mandatory defense but that he wasn't happy with the purse being offered for the fight.

K9 is probably scared since Powell already knocked him out in one round before. K9 doesnt wanted to get torched again and possibly lose out any future big fight?????....k9 will not get any big name fights until he proves himself more....get redemption with Powell in devastating fashion which could open big doors....hopefully k9 vs cintron...cause cintron needs to redeem himself as well too

K9 doesn't have to prove himself further (unless we're talking about Pacquiao or Mayweather (even then, you just have to have a good win, I mean.. Yuri Foreman almost got a Pacquiao fight)), K9 just has to keep the title until an HBO/Showtime fighter comes knocking.

Don King and Emanuel Steward did a good job at helping him do that by keeping him on the sidelines for the last year because there aren't many top 20-30 opponents you can put K9 against that you would be confident of him winning. I expect Powell to take his title.

The bad part for K9 is that the IBF is the strictest sanctioning body. Too bad because he was the best available opponent for Paul Williams comeback fight.
