But I say, regardless of whether Perez is telling the truth or not, all I can say is that in boxing, preparation is not only physical but also mental. Leonard once said that boxing is 80% mental, 20% physical. One's body allows you to be as physically prepared as ever, if your mental preparation is quite focused.

If Perez was bothered by such a relationship, then it could have affected his preparations for the fight.

Perez' next fights should be a gauge if what he's telling is true or not. 'Coz if he still loses his next two to three fights...then I would say he is indeed going down.
So, for his last two fights he has been mentally unprepared? Considering he lost the fight before this I imagine he was very focused. If he wasn't he and his team would have known that it might well be over if he lost due to focus.

From the opening bell Darchinyan charged out like a man possessed and I think that had more to do with throwing Perez off his game than anything else. He seemed slightly shocked after being bombed in the first round and hurt straight away. He didn't have time to get into his rhythm at all, which he likes to do.

That alone threw him off his game more than anything. As for focus etc, well, guess what? Every single fighter has issues outside of their training. Darchiyan is 36 years old with a big family. You don't think he also had his own issues? You don't think Agbeko had his issues in their fight? What about in the fight in which Agbeko lost? Maybe he had his own issues because he sure came back and showed greater skill in the second fight.

The point is that every fighter will have issues, but can you still win the fight regardless? Perez lost the fight badly. Even with the greatest training camp of his life, how much closer would it have been? Would he have won a round or two? He still gets hit. Would he have suddenly not gotten hit at all? No. Would he have come back better after being hurt? Maybe. Who knows?

However, he got owned from the opening bell to the end. Being better prepared would make it closer, but even if it was closer, how much better would he have done? He was pretty much brutalised in there, so doing better might have meant he just lost widely instead of getting beaten up, dropped, hurt numerous times and losing every single round.

In my opinion he looked worse in the Agbeko fight. He didn't have his rhythm or timing in that on at all. He missed so many punches. In this fight he was just overwhelmed more than anything. People also forget that his plan was to wait on Darchinyan until he was tired out. I don't think he expected get hurt every round, lose every round, dropped and beaten up in the meantime. He followed his game plan, Darchinyan didn't follow it however.

He was prepared for the mares fight cuz he wasnt goin around ****ing other girls during training and then go back to colombia and his wife found out so watchu think hes gonna be all focused uin training camp
When he might lose his wife n kids??im not makin excuses for him cuz im sure he wouldve still lost even if he had his best training camp cuz darchinyan looked good n darchys style is tough to beat especially vs perez but i think it wouldve been a lot closer had he not had these
Issues. Also i really think he should move up in weight to 122 then have two or three fights their and then go to 126 hed maybe get some KO power and not have to drain
        Himself.

well unless he had the same problems for the rematch against agbeko, i doubt it changed the outcome of the fight. perez simply doesn't look like the same fighter he used to be. maybe he already primed himself out. or he simply has been figured out.

If boxers justify themselves for having been mentally unprepared for a fight, then I believe that in the long run these fighters don't last long in the sports.

What I am merely saying is that NOT EVERYONE has the capacity to compartmentalize their personal issues from their game. There are people who are good at it and there are those who don't. That is precisely why you can separate the best fighters from the good ones.

With the way Perez is justifying himself (which can either be true or not) only shows he is not really prepared. If this kind of excuse continue to exist in his future fights, I don't think he needs to continue boxing.

How anyone thinks Darch beat Mares is beyond comprehension, it really wasn't even that close.
