Bob Arum must be burnt considering both had events going on the same night.

What kind of illogical, egocentric, petty, nonsensical bull**** is this? This is almost a prime example of what's wrong with Boxing right now. Schaefer and DiBella put on a solid match-up between two good young fighters and the fight turns out to be great. Boxing promoters putting on evenly matched fights between two young exciting fighters is almost so out of the ordinary, they receive awards for it.

What exact did DiBella and Schaefer do to deserved an award from the crooked WBC? Oh yes, they did their jobs. DiBella and Schaefer's should be doing this every fight out. There jobs as Boxing promoters should be to promote and give fans match-ups like this on a regular basis. It's like finding a diamond in pile of ****. Solid match-ups in Boxing should be the norm, not such a rare occurrence in which it deserves awards and accolades.

Of course this SHOULD be the norm, but its not. Promoters are afraid to risk their guys until they get the ultimate pay day (see Arum 100x over). These guys but 2 of their best young fighters in there in a high risk fight. They should be commended, the sport needs more of this.

It was a great fight and someone mentioned that matching guys like these should be the norm but wasnt Ortiz ment to be a name that Berto could beat easily? From what i remember practically nobody gave Victor a chance and the only reason it was a great fight is because Victor fought well, not Berto.
Why they feel the urge to give a award for **** like this, it makes out like that was the only great fight ever or something.

ps, so when do the promoters of the Maidana/Morales or Salido/lopez fight get a plaque?

DiBella did a great job in protecting and selling Berto to HBO's ignorance.
Same will happen to any fighter WHEN they stop fighting smaller, stationary, NO Punch opposition...NOTE:GBP using same formula with Canelo Alvarez!
