  • Comments Thread For: Berto's Trainer Praises Victor Ortiz For His Performance

Andre Berto's loss this past weekend to Victor Ortiz, while valiant in its ways, was a hard one to swallow for his trainer Tony Morgan. Having trained the Haitian-American star since he was just a teenager, Morgan has gotten to know Andre on the inside and out throughout their time together in Winter Haven, Florida and abroad.

Great victory for Vic, he really deserves this one; this fight was all heart and balls (testicles) from both fighters - it was just that Ortiz wanted it more. Ortiz will be a factor in the welter weight division, but it is too early for Ortiz to start mentioning Pacquiao or May-never. Ortiz is just not up at their level yet. Great victory for Ortiz though, I'm really happy for him for all the things that he's gone through.

WRONG!!!!!!!! The only plan Berto had after he got hurt bad was HOLDING...and did he ever??? That was a Holding record set at this fight future competitors r gona have a hard time breaking it

berto can't box for *****. I dunno how that was part of the gameplan.

berto got a nice strong jab, but he hardly throws it. all that hype-job does is wait and wait to throw a big counterpunch

Basically team Berto slept on Ortiz because of the Maidana fight. they thought that Ortiz from that fight was coming to the ring but got caught sleeping. So happy for Ortiz.

I can agree that Berto was procrastinating on stepping up but dude got some skill but don't like to test himself. That punch he caught Ortiz with in the 6th round that dropped Vic was beautiful and well timed punch. Berto can be can be a very good fighter if he wants. Hopefully this war and loss makes him start to push himself and bringmore to the sport. I'm sure he didn't expect to lose to Ortiz because him and his whole team was lunching.
