  • Comments Thread For: Golovkin vs Ouma Set For June Showdown in Panama

WBA "regular" middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (20-0, 17KOs) will defend the title on either June 2 or June 4 in Panama against Kassim Ouma (27-7-1, 17KOs) on a show staged by promoter Rogelio Espino. Contracts were signed today reports matchmaker Mario Pokowietz. A unification fight against WBA interim middleweight king Hassan NīDam has once again been put on a hold. Golovkinīs contractual dispute with Universum is still to be decided in a German court.

The de****able Peter Kohl of Universum is still ruining Golovkin's prime.

Ok fight. I am glad that Ouma is getting another decent payday (hopefully) since he should have gotten the win against Vanes and for some reason ESPN rejected him for a FNF slot last year. He can still fight, though I think Golovkin knocks him out, but I got him knocking out everyone in the MW outside Martinez.

Golden Boy should talk to Universum and get Golovkin on HBO.

          Excellent suggestion.

It was nice to see Chakhkiev on a Golden Boy card, and I hope we see Boytsov soon.

Wow, have to agree with Tunney on this one. Golovkin has a world of talent and in the past 1 1/2 years he has gotten a gift title against a nobody who lasted 58 seconds, a 14-2 guy ranked 60th by boxrec and a shopworn Ouma. There is no reason he's not fighting the other WBA belt-holders Sturm or N'Jikam, other than the fact that they don't want to fight him.

Golovkin is too talented to stay on Universum's weak-**** schedule.

Ouma wouldn't be a bad opponent if Golovkin was coming off a tough fight, or he had something good lined up for the fall. But I am betting he'll still be waiting for a meaningful fight this time next year

Golovkin should fight Pirog or Sturm. If these Euros aren't going to fight anyone good then at least they should fight each other.

Golovkin should fight Sturm, but Sturm is refusing to fight him because he is scared to death. Golovkin called him out several times but Sturm always makes excuses, like he did to Arthur Abraham. Instead he is fightim some British bum in his backyard. Sturm the coward.
