Sapa-AFP is reporting that Felix Sturm (35-2, 15KOs) has set down his next defense of the WBA's "super" version of the middleweight title. Sturm will face British boxer Matthew Macklin (28-2, 19KOs) in Cologne on July 2. The date and the venue for the fight were confirmed during a media conference in Berlin on Friday.

Big step up for Sturm. While Macklin isn't Martinez, Pirog, Golovkin, etc., he's a whole lot better than the guys Sturm has been fighting. Sturm is never going to try to unify or fight one of the other stars in the division, so this is a pretty good, albeit very winnable fight for him
