if they were pillow gloves then why did morales stun maidana on several occasions while using them?
huh?
people get knockouts in Grants as well and those are considered pillows as well
Winnings are very protective gloves, ones wear hand protection takes precedent unlike other models of gloves like Reyes where maximum damage takes precedent.
Winnings have a very high density foam which lessens the impact on both the hand and the body of the opponent minimizing possible damage to the hand and subsequently to the opponent's body
and like someone said Morales hit Maidana with more cleaner shots than vice versa so I venture to say his clean shots did stun Maidana a few times
I voted different because I know how much of a deal gloves are to me. I think it affect Maidanas style negatively. I mean he even wanted his gloves so he knows his preference and how he want's to fight, otherwise he'd be happy with whatever gloves. So it does play a part even mentally
The original injury seemed to be done with the thumb so the brand of glove would have little effect on how the swelling started IMO. But the punishment to the eye throughout the fight may have been made worse with harder/differently padded gloves.
I still have yet to rewatch the fight but it didn't seem like maidan was targeting the eye as much as he shoulda/coulda so in the end maybe it wouldnt of made any real difference at all.
Really? In the slow motion replay I saw a perfectly landed uppercut, clean to the eye. Even Kellerman and Lampley agreed it was a clean punch. Or maybe I missed something.

I've never used Winning gloves, hence why I quoted "pillow", people call them pillows. I have always used Everlast. But from what I have heard, Reyes are punchers gloves, and Winning are pillow gloves.

like i said i have to rewatch it ... and despite what they said, it appeared to me nite of like the thumb area/side of the glove made contact across the eye/eyelid. i could be dead wrong tho it was a stream etc ... i have the file downloaded but havent had a chance to rewatch it ...
the effects looked like erik had been thumbed which is what both jim and max originally had said but a replay showed a perfect left uppercut that landed right on the eye. maidana was throwing bombs all that round.
He could have possibly KO'd him or possibly lost to Morales more convincingly (getting stunned or dropped), we will have to wait and see on the rematch.
