he doesn't use them unless he has to. Morales' hands are brittle and always have been.
the only times I have seen him in non Winnings are when he is the challenger for a title or the decided underdog
otherwise it's Winning gloves
Chino on the other hand preferred to use the Everlast MX glove but was told he would not get the fight with Morales unless he fought in WinningsComment

The original injury seemed to be done with the thumb so the brand of glove would have little effect on how the swelling started IMO. But the punishment to the eye throughout the fight may have been made worse with harder/differently padded gloves.
I still have yet to rewatch the fight but it didn't seem like maidan was targeting the eye as much as he shoulda/coulda so in the end maybe it wouldnt of made any real difference at all.Last edited by -Boxzilla-; 04-12-2011, 04:59 PM.Comment

morales uses his technique and timing with his punches. to force an aggressive puncher like maidana to wear pillow gloves takes a little away from them. why else would boxers be pick and choosy about gloves these days? if morales wants to protect his hands, that's fine, but why make the OTHER fighter wear pillows?Last edited by John Barron; 04-12-2011, 05:32 PM.Comment
