Comments Thread For: CompuBox Punch Stats: Erik Morales-Marcos Maidana War

Erik Morales, fighting the entire fight with a swollen-shut eye, landed the higher pct. of punches, but was outworked and outlanded by Marcos Maidana, who threw nearly 1,000 punches. Morales rallied in rounds eight (landing 61% of his power punches), nine (landing 67% of his power shots) and round ten (landing 42% of his power shots). Maidana had a 39-15 edge in punches landed in rounds eleven and twelve.

Maidana won 115-113 in my book. 116-112 could be made a case of. I really think people get too caught up with the commentatry.

Maidana won the fight but in unspectacular fashion. He was horrible, and looked bad. It was close but Maidana defiantly just edged the fight out, the last two rounds were crucial for Maidana.

114-114 I don't think.Maidana did enough to win this fight and Morales did enough with one eye to at least earn a draw, hopefully Maidana will honor his word and give Morales a rematch. Morales with two eyes puts on another boxing clinic 500K right now on the future fight

7-5 Morales. The judges counted all those worthless flurries Maidana threw. He took so many counters and loss most of the exchanges when he had Morales on the ropes.

Damn this was great fight i know that Maidana is a very limited but he does have power though and i thought that alone will b good enough to KO morales and he looked huge next to morales and looked very very strong but idk its crazy morales made him miss so much and whenever maidana landed a bomb he absorbed it like no other fighter cuz everyone maidana hit got hurt...but i would love to see a rematch and this is the highest level terrible can fight at he cant fight people that r blazing fast and no to JMM he would just embarace morales and just beat him up morales is still too slow to handle JMM

It was a great fight & gotta give props to both fighters, especially Morales who proved most of the boxing expert analyst's & fans(like Myself) wrong by hanging in there & putting up a great fight..I saw Maidana win the fight & 116-112 is just about right, i thought it was 115-113..& everyone of the HBO announcers agreed Maidana won, except Harold Lederman(HBO's unofficial judge) who had it a draw..

żUnspectacular fashion? Maidana fought his fight & the same way he always fights!! & he won!! Instead of minimizing & criticizing Maidana(who fought his heart out), u should praise Morales for making the effort in trying to win with his "NO GIVE UP & COME BACK SWINGING ATTITUDE"!!! No one doubted Morales heart, but almost everyone thought Maidana was going to steamroll over Morales & it was Morales conditioning, skills & willingness to win that proved almost everyone wrong..Maidana came in to do his fight, it's not his fault Morales still had it in him to put up a great fight!!
