Next Friday night, April 8, in Atlanta, Middleweight boxer Hector Camacho Jr. will look to avenge his father’s loss against Saul Duran. Hector “Macho” Camacho—a boxing legend with multiple championships—fought Duran at the tail end of his career last May and was defeated in 10 rounds, ending his incredible career with a record of 79-6-3.

I don't know why. Hector Camacho is basically a very good fighter with a well developed boxing brain, like Macho Sr.. he was practically "born" in the ring, and used to come in with his father all equipped with a set of boxing gloves, when only a tot.

I used to have a lot of respect for Camacho Jr. and always thought that Macho Sr. was one of the very top fighters of his time, fast as lightning and unbeatable at his best. But apart from his boxing brain, he wasn't very bright, and frittered it all away by his behaviour.

Hector Jr. says he has "motivation" from his father's loss to Duran. Well, that's just trying to boost up the fight. If he had any real motivation, he'd be fighting at 140, or at the very most, 147. At 140 he should have won a title, a clever, good fighter, with KO punch when he WANTED to.

But, like his father, he fell into slack ways just aiming to do enough in a fight to win, and not over-exert himself. That's how Macho was able to fight until nearly 50 years old, which I think he must be pushing closely around now.

Don't know what Macho's doing right now or how he'll make a living, I don't think he knows anything other than boxing.

I pick Roberto "manos de piedra" Duran to beat Hector "macho" Camacho in this classic match up.

So talented yet has the James Toney, Cris Arreola, Odlanier Solis syndrom. Can't seem to keep his weight in check. He should be fighting at welterweight yet has trouble the Middleweight limit at times. I'd like to see him against someone like Mayorga. The press conferences alone will be beyond entertaining.

I'd back Camacho with both at their peaks, {Hector was just too blazingly fast, and a good puncher and with lots of skills too. this is not to demean Duran who was one of the very best lt weights ever}. if that could be arranged, because Hector was a super feather at his peak, and Duran was a lightweight............And I actually live in Panama, where Duran, whom I've met, is a national hero with a statue in a major street and a Duran arena etc. They never call him Duran they refer to him as El Campion....as if there was never another champ from Panama other than he.
