Comments Thread For: Sergio Martinez, Andy Lee Close The Show at Foxwoods

by David P. Greisman - MASHANTUCKET, Conn. – It is one thing to have razor jabs that can mark a face up. It is another thing to have perfect left hands that can knock a man down.

Sergiy Dzinziruk has one heckuva jab. But Sergio Martinez has one helluva left hand.

Martinez’s face was indeed marked up – he had bruising around his left eye, and a cut there as well. But he was still able to see his opening, and he was still able to exploit it, setting up and getting a big knockdown in the eighth round.

He then followed that knockdown up with two more, and referee Arthur Mercante stepped in after the third, saving Dzinziruk from further punishment and giving Martinez the victory.

Martinez made his second successful defense of the lineal middleweight championship, improving his record to 47-2-2 with 26 knockouts. Dzinziruk, a beltholder one division below at 154 pounds, suffered his first professional loss, falling to 37-1 with 23 knockouts.

BoxingScene was ringside for Martinez, live blogging the fights. Here’s how the main event and co-feature (Andy Lee vs. Craig McEwan) went down: [Click Here To Read More]

Martinez should forget about Pacquiao or Mayweather (they'll never fight him), here is how he'll earn the Number 1 P4P, by fighting the Winner of Ward-Bute, after that there can't any argument about who the best P4P.

lee isn't ready for martinez yet. sergio is just on top of his game right now and is probably just as good as anyone in boxing pound for pound. he has that "evolved" style of fighting where he adapts regardless of whim and circumstance.

agreed. pac shouldnt have to fight him either, lol sergio is ****ing huge! i bet he walks around at 185 pounds fully hydrated and not dieting. while pac might be walking around at 152. and no other MW right now is ready for him. 154 he sacrifices too much stamina and power. i don't know if he could make 154 comfortable.

Andy Lee showed that NEVER GIVE UP ATTITUDE & it paid off!!! HE CAME FROM BEHIND big!!! Sergio Martinez just beat senseless & KO'd(in a tough fight) a undefeated TOP OF THE LINE fighter!! Martinez definitely showed he's a force to be reckoned with at 154 or 160lbs!!

I think Martinez stops this kid in the 8th or 10th. If not, then unanimous decision by Sergio Martinez.
I knew Martinez would be too much for Dzinziruk

He's THE FORCE at 154 or 160. Not to mention arguably the best P4P fighter in the world.
