BoxingScene.com was informed by Gaby Penagaricano, of Miguel Cotto Promotions, that undefeated Luis Cruz (17-0, 14KOs) turned down a lucrative opportunity to face former world champion Rocky Martinez (24-1-1, 15KOs) in a Showtime televised bout on April 16 in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. The fight would have been the co-feature to the featherweight clash between WBO champion Juan Manuel Lopez and challenger Orlando Salido.

why would he be demanding more money? he isn't a champion or ex champ,nobody,,,i just think he never wanted to face martinez,he had a chance when martinez was champ too and he turned it down,i knew he wouldn't accept the fight,he had a chance to be on tv where everybody would see him,facing an ex champ,chance to make a huge statement and he turned it down for "more money"...i think boxers use that as an excuse when they really are afraid to face someone

I think cruz is not up for the challenge,yet against a puncher like martinez.hell no he doesn't deserve a huge sum of money.he wanted to cash out as much as possible incase of a loss imo.be as its made eventually hes gonna have to step up for a world title shot opportunity.
