  • Comments Thread For: Ricky Hatton: If Canelo is Overweight, Matthew Withdraws

Former champion Ricky Hatton is not happy with the latest developments surrounding his younger brother's fight this Saturday at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. The fight between Matthew Hatton and Saul "Canelo" Alvarez was agreed upon for a catch-weight of 150-pounds. There is news that the WBC, because their vacant junior middleweight belt is at stake, will demand the fight takes place at the full limit of 154-pounds.

You'll lose either way. Just take the money.

No, F' that good for them. They have a contract. I hope they do withdraw if Alvarez comes above 150. They should do it. And, lets see what WBC does then. And, lets see what GBP also does. Because, this could be the 2nd time GBP will change the contractual weight-class like a week before the fight. Is BS on their part.

His regular weight is 150 pounds, Ricky.

His face probably doesn't look drawn like yours used to because Canelo probably doesn't blow up to 180-190-200 pounds in between fights forcing himself to shrivel down to 140 through 3 months of training in a sauna suit the way you used to.

Alvarez made 150, gave Baldomir 3 pounds, and let him keep his money. Weight should not be an issue, but the WBC is trying to make it 1, when there's already a signed contract. They need to fall back, they already made their bed.

You have to ask yourself why GBP need so many advantages for Canelo in this fight?

He's fighting an overmatched, feather fisted, lightly regarded WW who has little or no chance and he's been virtually gifted a championship belt. Could they make it any easier for him?

Are these the lessons they learned from Ortiz?
