Comments Thread For: Vanes Martirosyan-Saul Roman in Talks For April 23

BoixngScene.com was advised that a WBC title bout is being discussed for April 23, with Vanes Martirosyan (28-0, 17KOs) taking on Saul Roman (34-8, 29KOs) for the WBC's "silver belt" at 154-pounds. The winner would become the mandatory challenger to the victor of Saul Alvarez-Matthew Hatton, who battle on March 5 for the vacant WBC junior middleweight title. Vanes will first return to action on March 19 on the Lucian Bute-Brian Magee undercard at the Bell Centre in Quebec.

      Another pointless fight and mismatch.

This is what's wrong with the sport of boxing. A journeyman like Saul Roman fighting for a "silver" WBC title?

Shady old Arum sets it up so Vanes gets a belt without needing to earn it.

If the winner gets Canelo than I don't care.

        It's a sh%t match-up.

But at least it sets the stage for Vanes-Canelo.

a canelo-vanes fight would be big at staples.

Well he's earned at least a shot to become the mandatory at this point in his career. He's not getting younger.

At least this is a fight between two top 10 guys (according to wbc) in the JMW for an eliminator... this doesnt make Vanes the champ, it makes him the mandatory for Canelo which is why i love the fight...

co-sign... lets hope vanes-saul happens and the stage is set for a staples center clash.. hopefully top rank and golden girl can put their differences aside and deliver us this matchup... come to think of it, cant the wbc force the fight by putting up a purse bid if the promoters cant come to an agreement?
