Comments Thread For: Caballero Wins, Appointed as Mandatory To Barros' Belt

Celestino Caballero (34-3, 23KOs) got his wish. After making a petition and pushing very hard, the WBA's championship committee voted to make him the mandatory challenger to "regular" WBA featherweight champion Jonathan Victor Barros (31-1, 18KOs), who won the vacant title last December. However, it was also ruled that Barros would receive extension of the voluntary period before having to make his mandatory defense against Caballero. Barros now has 180 days before he has to fight the mandatory.

Um, this thread should be titled: "Caballero loses, appointed as mandatory to Barros' belt."
He lost his last fight, but the gutless, ****bag WBA gave him mandatory status and a title shot anyway. Barros isn't all that good, but I hope he surprises everybody, including the WBA, and kicks the **** out of Caballero

Yeah, it's ****** that he was apparently 'pushing very hard' and it was voted on. As if what happens in the ring doesn't matter, it's actually more of a politcal campaign or something.

Don't really care if he lost at 160. He lost. That's it. Bulls--- when you lose a 10-rounder against an unranked fighter and you cry about deserving a mandatory title shot. Caballero doesn't "deserve" s--t.

It is about as far from a legitimate belt as possible as Gamboa and John are both WBA super champions.

Have to agree with you, although I'm not sure I consider John legit since he hasn't defended against anybody in the top 10 since "beating" Marquez in 2006
