  • Comments Thread For: Evander Holyfield vs Brian Nielsen Pushed Back to May 7

The fight between heavyweights Brian Nielsen and Evander Holyfield has moved from March 5 to May 7. The official reason is the cut Holyfield suffered against Sherman Williams on January 22. The venue, DR`s Konserhuset in Copenhagen, will remain the same. Tickets remain valid but can be refunded until February 25. Nielsen will remain in training in Berlin and says in a press release he is "not exactly thrilled about being tortured twice a day by Karsten Rower" but claims to remain in training.

"The hotly-anticipated" By whom? The people cashing the checks? I know of NO fight fan that wants this enough to pay for it.

This is a disgrace to boxing. Boxing commissions should be shut down if they allow Holyfield to ever fight again. Have you heard the way he speaks?

Does he want to end up brain dead? Referees, commissions and trainers are there to protect the fighters, those involved should protect Evander and never let him fight again.

TBH Holyfield did a lot of presswork when the fight was signed. He even made it to the national tv primetime news and he sounded allright to me.

Nielsen on the other hand was barely understandable even though I'm his countryman.

I dont really blame the fighters for taking the fight and what can the commision do if all medicals are cleared? No the disgraceful thing is those who pay to see this freakshow. The pricerange for the card is sure to keep away the real fightfan (1K-2K USD) so only the jetset will be there.

The card is held in an intimate concerthall which is quite innovative and would give a good experience if it was real fighters and not old-age pensioners.
