BoxingScene.com was advised that a lightweight clash between Michael Katsidis (27-3, 22KOs) and Robert Guerrero (28-1, 18KOs) will not take place on the Juan Manuel Marquez-Erik Morales undercard on April 9 in Las Vegas. Based on what I was told, there is not enough money to get the fight done for this particular card, because the bulk of the money is going to Marquez for the main event. According to a few sources, the WBA/WBO lightweight champion is going to receive around $3 million dollars, with Morales getting around $1 millio, but those numbers have yet to be confirmed.

I read Steve Kim's story today and he said that JMM was off the card altogether and turned down fights against Morales, Khan, Berto, and Guerrero. If that's true I don't know why BoxingScene wouldn't have reported it by now.

According to every major outlet in Mexico, the fight between Marquez and Morales is taking place.

Even when these two were both at their peak. Juan Manuel would win. Back when Morales was getting all the glory, JMM was always better than Morales and Barrera, he just couldn't land the big fights and was ducked a lot. Even Emanuel Steward said that back when he trained Prince Naseem, MARQUEZ was the one guy that he advised Hamed to stay away from.
