Comments Thread For: Joyi-Takayama, Baloyi-Mendez Top Big Carnival City Card

This Saturday at Carnival City in Brakpan, South Africa, promoter Branco Milenkovic is putting on a very impressive card. In one of the main bouts Nkosinathi Joyi (21-0, 15KOs) is set to defend his IBF mini-flyweight belt against Katsunari Takayama (24-4, 10KOs) of Japan.

I am sure if Mendez beats Baloyi, the IBF will put Baloyi into an easier "title elimination bout" by summer in South Africa

A japanese fighter challening for the IBF title? Since when do they do that?´I thought they only fought for the wbc, wba titles... They should have kept it that way. One of the things I admire about Japanese boxing is that they only allowed their fighters to fight for the WBC and the WBA.

Takayama is no longer based in Japan, he is now with a promoter based in the Philippines.

IIRC, as far as the JBC is concerned, he's retired.
