  • Comments Thread For: Lucas Matthysse Sends a Strong Message That He's Back

Less than three months after falling just short against Zab Judah, junior welterweight contender Lucas Matthysse had no intentions of leaving anything to chance in his first fight back.

This much was true from the opening bell, as the free swinging Argentinean scored nine knockdowns en route to an eighth round stoppage of former titlist DeMarcus “Chop Chop” Corley in their Telefutura-televised main event Friday evening in Mendoza, Argentina. [Click Here To Read More]

saw the fight...that ref let corley get dropped like 7 times before stopping it, it was pretty upsetting,he should have stopped it like a round or two before...decent win for lucas, still can't believe he lost to judah though.....

I like both fighters but the fight was fairly judged in my oppinion.

Zab did what got him success back in his prime years (you might have been a tad to young to remember those fights, watching the Tsyu ko on youtube doesnt count). He stacked the points early and coasted the way through. Although this time he seems to show more foccuss then in the past.

Back from where, getting jobbed after beating up Zab Judah? Don't think he ever went anywhere except to train and TKO Corley.

Matthysse is the real deal, not just a mindless brawler either... he showed he has some ring smarts, boxing skill, and patience to go along with his power against Zab and now this.

Hope to see him enter the fray in the 140 merry-go-round, he'd be a hard fight for anyone.

It was a good win but we gotta remember Corley lost 5 of his last six, three straight and was stopped now twice in his last six. The only good fight he had in years was against Maidana but he is not the fighter he was when he fought Judah eight years ago, matter of fact he lost 14 fights since then.

Still Matthysse vs. Maidana is the fight to be made in Argentina right now.

Revenge!!!!! Lucas was robbed vs Judah. Black fighters have little luck fighting in Latin America. I would love to see Mayweather fight Angulo in Mexico.

Yeah he will give any one problems. Hes no maidana he has skills and patience to go with the power. But to much patience in the judah fight. But what great body attack he showed tonight. Khan is looking for an opponent how matthyse vs khan but i doubt khan's handlers will let them in the same ring right now.
