Comments Thread For: Schaefer: Khan vs Peterson is Still a Consideration

Junior welterweight contender Lamont Peterson (28-1-1, 14 KOs) of Washington, D.C., is still being considered as an April 16 opponent for WBA king Amir Khan (24-1, 17 KOs) of England, according to Richard Schaefer, CEO of Golden Boy Promotions. Khan had recently voiced his complaints over Perterson's financial demands in the British press.

So they wave McClosky in front of us to make this fight more appealing.

      Weak.

Apart from the butthurt Americans I wouldn't mind seeing Khan-McCloskey but hopefully Peterson can drop his high purse demand and we can watch a fight we all enjoy.

I've seen McCloskey fight several times.

          There's nothing special about him.

I think Salita would beat him.

          Its a complete mismatch.

Aslong as Khan fights the winner of Bradley-Alexander or Marquez or anyone of a calibre next I dont really mind who he fights in April. When it comes to McCloskey though, its money that makes sense.

The only reason he is in the picture is because of that. He wont ask for as much as Peterson and the UK fans and media would milk it. A mismatch, yes, I agree to some extent but I wouldnt take the possiblity of an upset away from anyone. Afterall, this is boxing.

            Peterson > McCloskey

Peterson worth £500,000 - No way!

In all probability, they're just using McCloskey to get Peterson to lower his financial demands.

                  Its an even fight.

                  They're both average fighters.

khan should only have options of:

                    Prescott 2
                    Katsidis

as big money big name/well known to uk fans, both fights vs punchers.

or ,peterson as good opponent ish to fight.

or even marquez if marquez and morales talks fall apart due to money.

no european bums or salita type nobodies.
