Newest entrant to my personal top 10 favorite fighters- Joseph Agbeko

I love watching this guy fight/box and he has all the traits I admire in boxers. Work ethic, willingness to fight the best, tons of heart, boxing skills, brawling skills, personality, talent, and class.

I heard about him when he lost the sd to sidorenko but I saw him fight live and box Vic D's ears off. That's when he really impressed me. Had no idea why he just brawled with Perez and he still almost won that fight. I picked him to beat perez and win the tourney.

    WAR AGBEKO!!!!

Anyone care to discuss? We need more bantam talk in here.

Love that guy. Still don't understand how he gets away with that weird, herky-jerky style but it works so well for him.

For starters, he didn't lose to Sidorenko. That was a whack decision.

I actually thought he looked sloppy against Vic (Vic did too). I remember thinking that it wasn't a good fight. Still, he looked the best I've ever seen him in the Perez rematch...including the Sidorenko fight.

If I were to make a BW ranking, he'd be #3.

Agbeko was very underrated at the beginning of the tournament, but I've always said he can win it. Against Vic it was more of a way of adjusting to Vic's awkward style. He used his right hand very effectively and Vic just got beat up. I also thought that he won against Sirodenko.

I like Mares he was born on my hometown and I would be really happy if he won but I also wouldn't mind Agbeko winning the tournament. He's a tough guy. He's number 3 or 4 on my Bantam list. Man bantam is full of talent, without a doubt the best division in boxing right now.

I heard the decision was bad, but I haven't had a chance to see it.

I have Joseph after Montiel and Nonito.

He throws excellent shots from the crouch, had a very good/awkward fast striaght right he throws to the body and head, that was killing vic and was effective v perez.

            works body and head well.

One of the best chins too, I think he beats Mares in a tough decision.

The more unique a style is, the harder it is to prepare for, you know?

All Ghanian fighters I know (not many boxers) have damn good chin, always in good shape, never mentally broke during the fight.

Yeah, he used his right hand a lot versus Vic. It became a little too much of a scoring punch for me after a while though. My problem was that there was a bit too much lunging for my taste coming from both fighters and that they were off balance a lot. But then again, both Vic and Agbeko are known for that (Agbeko less so). Just my opinion.

I agree with your second paragraph.

Can't see 168, 140, or 126 being over 118. I remember saying this last summer, but people thought Jrosales and I were overrating it.

Agbeko-Sidorenko is on youtube. It says "Evaluation Copy" copy across the picture, but it shouldn't interfere with you watching the fight, it didn't for me at least.

I'd put Moreno after Montiel. Donaire is probably the best fighter at 118, but until he proves it against the elite, I cannot justify putting him at #2 with his only win being over Sidorenko.
