Comments Thread For: BoxingScene Year End Awards: Knockout of the Year

By Cliff Rold - The skill.

    The physical chess match.

    The artistry.

All are reasons to tune in to a great boxing match. None are the first, the real, reason though, are they?

The first reason remains the same, now and forever. When fans tune into a fight, what they want to see more than anything else is the knockout.

And what they really, really want isn’t just a run of the mill stoppage. No matter the thrill, a referee stopping a bout in a flurry along the ropes is never as satisfying as the lights out, can’t get up by the count of ten moment.

It can never happen enough. Its purest form happens rarely. It is the priceless moment where the perfect punch lands that fighter and viewer alike know, as the defeated trails towards the floor, that the night has reached its conclusion. [Click Here To Read More]

Great ko but my personal favorite is the frenkel enzo knock out. It was a great ko and it looked like enzos head was gona be knocked off. It was a savage ko.

I think this was obvious. I think the 2nd best knock out was when Wlad knocked out Chambers. The fight ******, but the KO was sick.

KO of the Year is Maidana KO-ing Con if Joe Cortez wasn't bribed by Oscar.

                  Sergio Martinez on Paul Williams.
Because it came in the second round of what was supposed to be a tough rematch and it came after Williams had been forcing the issue.

Also Audley Harrison on Michael Sprott. I cannot stand Harrison but that was a great shot.

Also Dmitry Pirog against Daniel Jacobs. Great significance as Jacobs was the next big 'star'.

Frenkel won me £40 off a £2 bet with that KO. Up to the knockout it looked as if Enzo was breaking Frenkel down, but the KO punch was always on the cards and I wasn't surprised when it landed. As you say, a truly savage, career ending KO.
