Top Rank is putting together their own internal lightweight elimination style tournament. The first part will begin on February 26, when lightweight star Brandon Rios(26-0-1, 19 KOs) will challenge WBA king Miguel Acosta in a Showtime televised clash at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas. Awesome. I guess this leaves Robert Guerrero for JMM (or Andre Berto if Smokescreen Bob has his way) and then if JMM gets past that and Pac is still acting like a chicken**** in late 2011, JMM can fight whomever emerges from the Acosta, Soto, Rios, Antillon foursome.

Rios is getting the tougher fight, and yet all the Soto nuthuggers will say the winner of Acosta-Rios needs to do more. Lol.

Anyone that saw what Acosta did to Antillon and Moses knows that he's clearly a step above Soto. The winner of he and Rios should get the next crack at JMM and not even have to worry about fighting the Soto-Antillon II winner. But hey, that's the politics of the game.

now these guys are being matched good, then who ever wins against each other, good tough fights while the so called pound for pound king gets matched carefully against easy opponents, even the bantamweight tourament, the winner would have had it harder than "the pound for pound king" in their recent fights, yet these guys are just looked over for the current fraud

well i wouldn't mind seeing the winner of acosts/rios against soto/antillon,i mean sometimes we complain about not having certain matchups and then we say they don't need to fight,i say yes, this way there is no doubt as to who's the best, plus they'll be unifying too and then more money to fight jmm, though i think he'll be at 140 by then,he shouldn't but will

There's no real need for "unification" when you have an established, universally recognized, lineal champ in the division, which lightweight does. That said, I have no problem with the winners being matched against each other. Hopefully, JMM will fight Roberto Guererro next. And if he wins, whomever emerges from the mentioned foursome will be a #1 contender with some real buzz behind surrounding him.

BTW, no need for JMM to go any higher than lightweight for anyone outside of Manny Pacquaio. He's in a very good division and wouldn't make any more money by moving up to 140 or welterweight to fight any of those guys than he would defending his title.

antillon would never win against soto because of his style...

it should be antillon vs acosta II

                    and soto vs rios!!!
