exactly how many fighters do you know of who fought Ali and Marciano,Jersey Joe,Billy Conn,Floyd Patterson,Ezzard Charles,Bobo Olson and so many other greats? There will never be another Archie Moore!!

His name was Yolande Pompey, he's from trinidad and tobago but fought out of Canada ( not sure where).

Right on,my uncle was a good fighter from here who fought as a lightweight in the late 60's early 70's aswell. Victor Valma Smith,he introduced me to boxing when i was young and i've loved it ever since :P

yep ,the last fight was the best,how Ezzard came back and stopped him after being rocked himself! I sorta likn that to Mosley/Forrest both were great fighters,Archie like Shane being the bigger name but the other guy just had his number with his style. LOL don't 4get Charles was the younger and fresher of the 2 when they fought aswell though :P

same story,after doing abit of amateur fighting in my teens and getting out of HS i gave up boxing to get drunk,high and laid lol all in that order,SAD! I admire the Science but even more i think it's the Will and Determination i admire in a fighter that makes the sport so GREAT! :P

He's one of the greats, obviously. Charles had his number though, 3-0 against him.

I still have one of the biographies on him but haven't really got around to reading it yet.

One quote I remember from him (in another book) was that people ask him who was the best fighter he ever faced. He replied that he often tells people Rocky Marciano to make them happy, but the best two he faced were Eddie Booker and Charley Burley.
