Comments Thread For: Boxing’s Best Divisions Deliver: Weekend Review, Ratings

by Cliff Rold - Try to make a serious argument against Bantamweight and Jr. Welterweight being the two best divisions in boxing right now. Just for fun.

    It ain’t gonna’ be easy.

Not every second of the doubleheaders aired in the U.S. on HBO and Showtime was great, not every round must-see. At night’s end, only one of four contests had the glow of a classic but none left the feeling of time wasted.

They were good fights, featuring good fighters, in competitive weight classes. This wasn’t any pound-for-pound garbage; wasn’t flight of fancy haggling. It was the real thing; real boxing. [Click Here To Read More]

This is BS. Khan ranked at number 3? LMAO.

He has arguably the best resume at 140. Khan is number 1.

I think Bradley's 140 resume is better and is deservedly the #1 fighter at 140lbs.

Khan's quietly building up a solid resume at 140, but I'd still rank Bradley ahead of him without hesitation.

However, I can see the argument for his being rated higher than Alexander, whose resume was thin prior to beating Witter, and has even less title fight experience than does Khan.

Bradley's earned the right to be referred to as the man to beat, though.

          Best wins:
Bradley - Witter was #1 contender in lineal sense (Hatton was champ) at the time of their fight.
Khan - Maidana easily Top-5, perhaps even Top-4.

          Least significant:
Bradley - Cherry was moving up and wasn't even much more than a borderline Top 10 lightweight.
          Khan - Salita. Nuff said.

          In between:
Bradley - Holt was Top 5 and a reigning titlist, with wins over Torres and D-Hop going in; Campbell was a top lightweight moving up; Peterson easily Top 10 and undefeated at the time
Khan - Kotelnik arguably Top 5, easily Top 10, though struggled with Maidana prior to losing to Khan; Malignaggi came in off of two strong performances against Juan Diaz, but didn't look all that great in any of his three previous fights (LTKO11 Hatton, W12 N'Dou (rematch), W12 Ngoudjo).

Their best wins measured against one another are a toss-up, but the other two categories, Bradley takes with room to spare.

No way is Khan better than Maidana. He dropped him with a good body shot but the rest of the fight was ALL Maidana. Chased him round the ring, broke his nose, bloodied his face and would have knocked him out without Cortez not jumping in when Khan was on the brink of getting KO'd. Khan's pitty pat jabs were not impressive or hurtful. Roach was going to throw in the towel after 10. If Khan was in the middle of the ring for that big shot he would have dropped. The ropes saved him, fair play to Khan but he is NOT better than Maidana.

No, Bradley has the best resume at 140. However, Khan has a better resume at 140 than anybody not named Bradley.

Khan has the best resume at 140 right now, kotelnik and maidana are better than any of bradleys wins

If timmy beats devon then his resume would be better imo
