Comments Thread For: CompuBox Punch Stats: Amir Khan vs. Marcos Maidana

Marcos Maidana’s pressure nullified Amir Khan’s jab, as Amir landed just seven per round, making it a tougher fight than expected. Maidana had a 59-24 edge in power shots landed over the last three rounds. Khan outlanded Maidana 162-62 in total punches in rounds one thru six. [Click Here To Read More]

Shows all Maidana had was the last 3 rounds

How he won the fight from those 3 rounds alone is beyond me

Maidana didn't win more than 4 rounds for me - he grabbed the last 3 rounds and one other round in the middle of the fight.

Take a point away for the KD & another point for the elbow.

      Khan won this fight clearly.

Punch stats are pretty crazy. Khan made Maidana miss loads, and he wasn't even giving that effort 100%, he was willingly getting hit at times. Combine that with the accuracy of his power shots and it was a clear win. But Khan could have easily won it a lot more easily had he not have wanted to test his chin so much infront of everyone.

Yeh he didn't need to do that, but he did prove a point to the haters.
The Prince didn't like the fight for that reason http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/boxing/9279598.stm

            thats pretty conclusive.

on total punches khan won 9 to 3, on power punches 8 to 4.

obviously khan was almost out of there in 10 but equally, the bell saved maidana in rd 1 ...he wouldnt have survived another 30 seconds of pressure after that body shot.

and khan came out for 11 and not only weathered the damage but managed to stick enough the other way to make it a competitive round.

fair play to maidana for showing his heart but i dont think anyone can say Khan didnt win the fight fair and square.

as for all this cortez nonsense...hatton moaned that he had protected mayweather but everyone said he was just doing his job of keeping it from becoming a brawl. same applies here. i saw nothing different from the way he handled both fights. the point deduct was deserved..clear intent to elbow khan in the face...his misfortune that he caught the ref...that probably earned him the point!

definite khan vs winner of bradley/alexander and maidana vs loser .....if maidana wins then give him a rematch if he wants one......i dont think he will be too keen.....he got schooled and couldnt finish khan when his bombs landed.....in another year, khans defense and stamina will be even better and it'll be a rout

            all hail king khan!

i have khan winning 8 rounds as well.

              however,,

if YOU or anyone is a fair fight fan you have to ADMIT khan should have lost a

point or probably 2 for holding like crazy..

of course if he was warned correctly he may have never held again, but chances

are he would have because he was in trouble those last three rounds

khan is fast and quick, but he is no where near polished or sharp to deal

              with floyd or bradley.

sure, point taken re holding.......but i guess the fact that he didnt win by 8 points probably reflects the fact that it wasnt as one way traffic as the punch count suggests...i think a 3 or 4 point margin was about fair.

i think he needs another year before going anywhere near a mayweather but i dont see anything about bradley that khan should fear. he doesnt throw bombs like maidana and i think khans speed beats bradleys. maybe another 6 months work on defense would see him victorius?

no question amir won the fight, but for him running all the time on the last 3 rounds was also beyond me

referree should have stopped the fight when in round 10, amir didnt throw anything for 2minutes and 30 secs
