What if Dawson and Caballero never do anything meaningful in their careers again?

Does that vindicate Hopkins avoiding Dawson and Lopez dodging Caballero? One thing that Hopkins is doing is he is flat out fighting the guy that beat Dawson even if it was an iffy ending with the head butt from Pascal and Litzau is being mentioned as a future Lopez opponent. Now even if Litzau did beat Caballero, I think Lopez should get ripped for fighting him unlike Hopkins fighting Pascal after he beat Dawson because to put it nicely I think Litzau is a club fighter compared to Pascal even though I don't think Pascal is a great fighter either, he's just good. Anybody wanna chip in on this?

But even if that's true, what if Lopez and Hopkins go on to beat better fighters than those two guys? Is it really all that big of a deal they never fought them after all? I think Lopez is more carefully handled than Hopkins is. But I'm just making this thread because I think it's somewhat of an interesting comparison.

In general, why do people act like that Caballero fight exposed him as some sort of bum?

It was beyond obvious he was too small for that weight. I mean Litzau is a light body for that weight himself and that was the first time you actually saw him muscle around someone, even still though Cabs still showed signs of what he's capable of though out the fight. He just would get tired and arm weary fast between rounds and Litzau did the little that he's known for doing and just took advantage of a weary Caba.

Cab needs to either stay at 125 or prepare his body more prudently for 130. He needs to make sure he can have a solid output for 12 full rounds if he's going to move up.

Sugar Ray Robinson defeated a host of great fighters but it still doesn't negate the fact he avoided Charley Burley.

Hopkins definitely avoided Dawson and Juanma most definitely avoided Caballero - however, Hopkins has established himself as an ATG even without Dawson on his resume and whatever negatives his duck of Dawson takes away from all that he has accomplished, it is only minimal.

Juanma Lopez has plenty of time left in his career to rack up several great wins and better names on his resume than Caballero, but he, or his management team (whomever you choose to blame), should not be forgiven for not giving Caballero his shot.

As for Caballero & Dawson not being able to do anything meaningful in their career; Caballero is probably past his best now, but he is a multi-champion and deserves credit for what he has done. Dawson, I believe, can bounce back from his loss to Pascal, and defeat some name opponents.

Jack Johson lost to several "bums" but it doesn't make him a bum.

Caballero is a 2 time World Champion - sure, he lost to Litzau, it doesn't make him a bum. He fought terribly in the fight and it certainly wasn't the same Caballero who was running riot in the SuperBantamweight Division.

Rahim beat Morales when Morales moved up too far in weight.

How can you guys be that ******? There's weight divisions for a reason. The only way you can move up effectively is if your body can carry the weight properly. Cab is tall, but narrow as a tooth pick. He got pushed around by a guy who's weak for that division, but don't act like you didn't see Cab light Jason up in the rare moments Cab did let his hands go.

Nobody is going to fucking care other than you.

Hopkins is a first ballot HOF. Lopez's style will eventually get him KTFO and people will forget about him.

I like Chad Dawson, but Bernard Hopkins even though he ducked him was already a HOF way before Dawson was in the picture.

Nobody has ever given a shit about Caballero. His only fans are people who hate Juanma. Before Juanma got big you NEVER heard his name. Caballero's claim to fame, despite unifying and being ranked top 10 p4p, is trash talking himself into a payday only to fail hard against a journeyman.

Does it vindicate it? No. Does anyone give a shit? No.
