Comments Thread For: Pongsaklek Wonjongkam-Edgar Sosa in Play For February

According to reports in Mexico, there are talks for a February fight between WBC flyweight champion Pongsaklek Wonjongkam (77-3, 41 KOs) of Thailand and Mexico's former champion Edgar Sosa (41-6, 24 KOs). Sosa has the WBC's international title at the weight and considered as the mandatory challenger to the belt. Wonjongkam ends the year very strong, including a majority decision win over the undefeated Koki Kameda in March.

If true, props to the Thai for trying to maintain his P4P ranking.

Good matchup if it happens. Wonjongkam built his record largely on bums for years but he's been taking chances the past few years and IMO, he has what it takes to UD Sosa. Wonder where it would be. Wonjongkam has never fought outside of Asia, so I would be shocked to see this in Mexico.

Two fo Sergura's last three fights have been at flyweight. And, most of his fights realy in his career were in the flyweight division. He's shown a willingness to fight on an opponent's home turf by going to Puerto Rico and taking the 108 title from Calderon. Wonder if he and his people would consider going to Thialand to challenge Wonjongkam for the flyweight strap.

Well if Sosa wins they won't really have to worry about that.
